Florida's Marco Rubio Set Run for Senate in 2010?

Florida’s Marco Rubio Set Run for Senate in 2010 following Jeb Bush’s announcement?

Following Jeb Bush’s decision to not run for Senate, word is buzzing that Former House Speaker Marco Rubio, of West Miami, is certain to run for the U.S. Senate in 2010.

Rubio who is Florida’s first Cuban-American House speaker from 2006-2008, said he’d consider a run, “about as seriously as you can consider anything.” This 2010 Senate race will be one of the nation’s mostly contested since first-term Senator Mel Martinez, a Republican, decided to not seek another term.

He is said to make a formal announcement in a few weeks, but he’s already set up a Web site for his potential campaign and sent a video to top Republican donors around the state.

Rubio is to have said that he knows U.S. Senate seats are very competitive and does not expect to be the frontrunner.
