The number of Republican Senators supporting Sonia Sotomayor is now at seven with the inclusion of Kit Bond of Missouri.
When he announced his support for Sotomayor, Bond said that it was her qualifications that persuaded him to vote in her favor even though they don’t share a similar political philosophy. Bond also took time to scold President Obama for not using the same standard when he voted against both of Bush’s Supreme Court nominees, John Roberts and Samuel Alito.
Bond said when it comes to judging Supreme Court nominees, “luckily for President Obama, I don’t agree with Senator Obama.”
Sen. Lisa Murkowski (R-AK) said she will announce how she will cast her vote on Wednesday evening.
