This Thursday, Vice President Joe Biden will travel to Atlanta to speak about the importance of repairing our current immigration system at a naturalization ceremony for new U.S. citizens. According to the White House, Vice President Biden will speak at a naturalization event at The King Center to push immigration reform.

While talking to immigration reform advocates, VP Biden said “Don’t let your issue die like gun control did.” Biden will strongly emphasize the necessity for a path to legalization for 11 undocumented immigrants, the white House said.

In addition to this appearance, Vice President Biden will join President Obama to meet with religious leader to persuade the House to act on Immigration. Among the leaders that will meet with Obama and Biden are Pastor Joel Hunter, National Association of Evangelicals President Leith Anderson and Jim Wallis of the social justice group Sojourners.

The Obama administration has been stressing how crucial group support is for the push for immigration reform, including support from religious groups. On Tuesday, Biden spoke to Catholic leaders about immigration, after the pressure president of the U.S. Conference of Catholic Bishops placed on the House to pass an immigration bill this year.

Last week, President Obama met with Business leaders to talk about immigration reform and making it easy for House GOP members to vote on an immigration bill. “The politics are challenging for the speaker and others, and we want to make it as easy for them as possible,” said President Obama.
